Q: How can I tell if the software driver for the SCX10 universal controller has been installed correctly? I've done this several times, and when I open my DEVICES & PRINTERS folder while I have the SCX10 connected with a mini USB cable to my PC, I see a driver icon that's labelled "UNSPECIFIED". I believe that is the driver for your SCX10 because it's the only new icon I don't recognize.
A: This is a confusion that only happens with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. That "UNSPECIFIED" icon actually means that your driver has been installed correctly. The file name should be "FT232R USB UART". If it was not installed correctly, then it would have a question mark on the driver icon. If you already have the SCX10 connected to your PC's COM port with a mini USB cable, then start up the SCX10 GUI software to establish communication between the controller and the PC. Make sure your COM port is not used with any other software, and make sure to select the right COM port.
