Resolution of ASG, BSG outputs

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Tue Jul 29, 2014 7:13 pm

Q: I'm using your AR series closed-loop motors and drivers. I plan to connect the ASG and BSG outputs from the AR driver to my PLC so I can track where the motor is. I'm setting my motor resolution at 10,000 steps per rev. What is the pulse/rev of my ASG and BSG outputs?

A: The ASG and BSG simulated encoder output pulse resolution is exactly the same as your motor resolution setting. If you set it to 10,000 steps per rev, that means you would measure 10,000 pulses per rev coming out from just the ASG output or the BSG output. Quadrature pulse counting method will increase it to 4x. So in total, ASG + BSG + quadrature (x4) = 40,000 pulses per rev.
