SCX11 communication issues caused by USB power setting

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Wed Nov 19, 2014 5:40 pm

Q: I am using my PC to send commands to one of your controllers serially via USB port. When I power up the system, it works very well. I am running into problems after a few minutes, it seems like the SCX11 disconnects from the PC and it stops responding. I have checked the SCX11 status and the Power LED is solid green and has no alarms. Can this be a problem with the code, the SCX11, my PC?

A: One problem that you may have is that the USB Power Saving setting on your computer is disabling the USB port after a few minutes to save power.
The "Power Saving" setting for USB com ports disables the COM port after certain amount of time. This may explain some communications problems: lost of communication, unable to connect to a flex drive, etc.

To solve this problem, please access the Advanced Power Option on your PC, and disable the USB selective suspend settings.
