LIMO: Function of the PRESET input

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Thu May 26, 2011 6:32 pm

Q: What exactly is the function of the PRESET input on your ESMC controllers for your LIMO (Linear Motion) products? How do you use it?

A: The PRESET input on our linear motion controllers allows the user to easily set a new electrical home position in which all subsequent moves will begin from. This is useful for alignment changes. To use this function, first you will have to tell our controller that you want PIN 17 to have the PRESET function and not the HOME function. The same input, PIN 17, has two built-in functions: HOME and PRESET. The HOME function (start return-to-home operation) is the default setting. You'll have to go into the I/O parameters with the EZT1 hand-held teach pendant, or the EZED2 data software, and change the setting to PRESET. Once this is done, you would jog your linear actuator to the desired position (with FWD/RVS inputs), then you would turn on the PRESET input. This is now your new electrical home, and all programmed moves will begin here. This setting is valid until you actually use the HOME function of the input, then the memory clears.
