AR-series: home/LS sensors with 48v power supply

Hi,
I have a setup with a ARD-KD driver that runs on 48v power supply. I need to connect 1+ inductive sensors (like Bernstein KIB-M12) for home/limit switching. What is the right way of connecting these sensors? Does the driver provide 24v (or anything <36v) that I can use as a VCC for the sensor?

Thank you.

Hi Vazkus,

For the ARD-KD the I/O are open collector type so they do not supply any voltage you will have to supply the 24 VDC externally. We do have a sample wiring for the home/limit sensors when using NPN or PNP type reference them below. They can also be found on page 75 and 76 of the manual I will link it below.

Dear om_tech_support_KR.

I have a follow-up question regarding homing sensor. I'm trying to use Bernstein KIB-M12NS inductive sensor for HOMES (here's the spec: https://www.bernstein.eu/fileadmin/down ... 6%20xx.pdf), its NPN type sensor and I think I have the wiring set up correctly, it's got a built-in LED that properly indicates the proximity.
I however have trouble interfacing it with the driver. When I measure the voltage between pins 3 and 5 of CN5 I get ~0v in normal condition and jumps to stable 0.7v when it's touching a metal (LED turns on). Am I doing something incorrectly? Do I need a pull-up resistor (the diagram in the pdf file sort of suggests that)?

Thanks!

Hi Vazkus,

How is your sensor wired and to what pins are you wired to on the driver?

Good that you asked this question :)

I checked wiring again and found that it was wrong. IN-COM2 was hooked up to GND, while for NPN sensor type it has to be connected too VCC.

Thanks again.
