Connecting to EMP400

Postby sgk » Thu Mar 08, 2018 4:33 am

Is it possible to use Immediate motion creator or another application with the EMP400? I have tried but the EMP400 device is not found. I am able to connect with HyperTerminal.

Thank you

Hi sgk,

In regards to your post, the EMP400 will communicate through RS232C. This device was designed to be used with RS232 Terminal programs (like Hyper Terminal) that are available through other companies. The EMP400 requires a communication cable (FC04W5) in order to connect to the COM port on a PC.

For the SCX11 controller, you can communicate through various serial ports such as USB, RS-232C, and CANOpen. This means that the SCX11 can be controlled via RS232 Terminal programs as well, however it can also utilize the USB connection. The Immediate Motion Creator Software (IMC), that is available on our website, is designed to be used with our SCX11 controller as it will communicate via a USB to mini B cable.

So Oriental motor company does not provide an application for running, testing and configuring the EMP400?
Thanks again

Hi sgk,

In regards to your post, it is true that we do not offer any software or programs to run the EMP400 series through RS232C, however we do offer the OP300 operating interface unit. The EMP400 manual has information on controlling the EMP400 via the operational unit in section 10 which starts on page 86:
