Electric motor issue

Postby lukebarber » Tue Jan 15, 2019 4:24 pm

I'm having a motor issue. I will try to give all the info possible.

motor:
3 hp
208 - 230 V
three "butt" connectors at the motor (red, black and blue)

vfd:
3 hp
208 - 230 V
https://www.valinonline.com/products/esv222n02yxb

It's starting up for 3-4 seconds and right after that it trips the 30 amp breaker. It's on its own circuit (alone) with 10-2 nmd90 wire (90 feet long) with a 30 amp breaker.

Any idea what it could be?

Hi Luke,

For induction motors we recommend using slow blow type fuses because the inrush current on start up of these motors on average is 3-5 times the full load current.
